Importing parasolid

Postby hercules on Sun Jul 18, 2010 1:58 pm

I'm trying to practice some toolpaths on a parasolid file that I imported. I am having a hard time getting X4 to toolpath correctly with the file. Is there some conversion or processing that I should do after importing a parasolid file (extension .X_T) before I do Mastecam toolpaths on it? I haven't done a parasolid import before. I am using X4 MU3.

Parasolid geometry shouldn't be any different than any other geometry in Mastercam. A couple of things to check, press F9 to see where your origin is and alt F9 to see what orientation the part is in (top, front, or elsewhere)
Then click screen/statistics to see what entities are on the screen. There should be one or more solid bodies, and various wireframe entities for chaining. (lines, arcs, splines)
You can also zip the file and post it here. We will take a look at it. Send me via email, if it is confidential.

OK thanks. The origin is correctly located, Orientation is fine (top) and screen stats list a number of lines and arcs and one solid. I'll work with it some more I guess. I will email it if I don't make some progress, thanks for that offer.
